About The Artist
As the self proclaimed “Queen of Nostalgia”, I find much of my work is influenced by places in time that I feel connected to - whether tied to memory or a sense of belonging. I am a born and raised New England girl at heart, currently living in North Carolina after moving here at 23. These environments inevitably shape the tone and energy of my art, as they do me.
I studied Fine Art at The University of Massachusetts where I focused on both painting and design. Also, I spent a summer at the Florence University of The Arts studying photography in a city overflowing with art history and culture. These experiences provided me with a great foundation to build my career upon however I often find my creativity lies in the more mundane. An idea I had driving to work, a song I’ve had on repeat for 3 days, a conversation with a friend - this is where the vision begins.
My subject matter tends to draw upon people, places and writing that I resonate with. I love good writing and am often inspired by a quote, a lyric or a quip. My graphic design experience is something I also believe reflects through my work. Combining text, imagery, color and composition to tell a story or send a message is something I have always been drawn to.
As a contemporary artist, my goal is to create pieces with a personality viewers can relate to. I want my work to evoke a sense of sentimentality while also feeling fun, whimsy, even tongue-in-cheek at times. This combination is something incredibly authentic to both me as an artist and as a person.
